This policy describes how ScrimpCo ("we") handles information in the Dinnr mobile app. Questions about privacy: scrimpbo@gmail.com.

What Dinnr is

Dinnr helps you decide what to cook. You pick a night, swipe through meal ideas, and put a dish on your dinner calendar. It learns what you like without making you fill out a long profile.

Account and sign-in

On first launch, Dinnr creates an anonymous account for you (a random user id on our backend, Supabase). You can use Dinnr this way without ever signing in.

Optionally, you can Sign in with Apple or Google. This lets you share a kitchen with the people you live with and recover your plan across devices. If you sign in, we may store the display name you choose. We do not offer email-and-password login.

Shared kitchens

A kitchen is a household group inside Dinnr. If you create or join one, we store your membership, any invite codes, and the display names of the people in that kitchen so everyone can see who is sharing the plan. Invite codes let you add household members without sharing email addresses.

Information we collect

When you use Dinnr we may store:

  • An anonymous account id created automatically on first launch (Supabase user id) so your plan can sync
  • Optional Apple or Google sign-in and the display name you choose
  • Shared kitchen membership, invite codes, and the display names of people in your kitchen
  • Food preferences you choose (likes, dislikes, dietary restrictions, allergies, cooking styles, time limits)
  • Swipe and taste signals (for example "not tonight," "not for me," or meals you put on the calendar) and dinner calendar entries for the days you plan
  • Custom dish names you add yourself
  • Basic technical data needed to run the service (device/app identifiers used by our hosting provider, timestamps)

Recipe photos and dish data come from our catalog. We do not use your camera or contacts.

How we use it

We use this information to:

  • Save your calendar, preferences, and kitchen
  • Rank dinner suggestions for you and your household
  • Recognize your subscription status so Dinnr Pro works across your devices
  • Operate, secure, and fix the app

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use this data for ads. We do not track you across other companies' apps.

Dinnr Pro and payments

Dinnr Pro is an optional subscription. You can subscribe through Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing, managed through RevenueCat. Apple or Google process your payment; we do not see or store your card number. We store subscription status on your kitchen (who purchased, and the expiration or whether it is lifetime) so the benefits apply to the right people.

Where it is stored

Dinnr's backend is hosted on Supabase. Payments are processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. Data is stored on your device and on our cloud backend. If you clear app data before linking an Apple or Google sign-in, that anonymous profile may be unrecoverable.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers that host or operate Dinnr (for example our database provider and the payment providers named above), and when required by law. They are not allowed to use your data for their own marketing.

Within a shared kitchen, the members of that kitchen can see each other's display names and the shared plan.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account from inside the app: open Profile → Account → Delete account. This removes your account. Shared kitchens you were part of stay available to the remaining members. Uninstalling Dinnr is not the same as deleting your account.

We keep data while your account exists and as needed to provide Dinnr. You can also reach us at scrimpbo@gmail.com from the address you use for support and ask us to delete your Dinnr data. We will delete or de-identify stored profile, preference, and calendar data we can reasonably locate. We may retain records if the law requires it.

You can clear local data by uninstalling the app or clearing Dinnr's storage in system settings.

Children

Dinnr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
